Galaxy Watch 9 VS Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Which Should You Buy?

Galaxy Watch 9 vs Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, Which Samsung smartwatch is actually worth buying? After three weeks of testing, I compare the $410 Galaxy Watch 9 with the $699 Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 across battery life, charging speed, performance, comfort, design, health tracking and price.

⭐ The Metal Ultra 2 Watch Band:

The biggest surprise was battery life. My Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 went from barely scraping one and a half days at launch to easily hitting three days without changing a single setting. But with the Galaxy Watch 9 matching almost everything else the Ultra 2 can do for around $300 less, is Samsung’s flagship watch really worth the extra money?

QUESTIONS ANSWERED:

Galaxy Watch 9 vs Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 — which should you buy?
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is the better smartwatch overall, but I think the Galaxy Watch 9 is the smarter buy for most people. Unless you need the Ultra 2’s extra battery life, brighter display or specialist sports features, the Watch 9 offers very similar health tracking, smart features and GPS performance for around $300 less.

How long does the Galaxy Watch 9 battery last?
In my real-world testing, the Galaxy Watch 9 consistently reaches or exceeds Samsung’s two-day estimate with the always-on display enabled. Heavy GPS use makes reaching a full second day less likely, but faster top-ups make it easy to charge little and often.

How long does the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 battery last?
After initially getting around one and a half days at launch, my Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 now comfortably lasts three days and often longer, with the always-on display enabled and no major settings changed.

Galaxy Watch 9 price vs Galaxy Watch Ultra 2:
The 44mm Bluetooth Galaxy Watch 9 costs around $410 / £379, compared with $699 / £659 for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. That’s a substantial premium for the Ultra 2, so the value really depends on how much you need its battery life, rugged design and exclusive features.

  1. The only problem I see is when you go with the Galaxy Watch 9 and not the Ultra, you don’t get the newer processor. You get the Exynos processor.

  2. i had the watch 8 classic and my gf has the watch 8 40mm, now i just bought the watch 2 ultra. and im feeling like im even more confused because i want the rotating bezel from the classic, the weight from the watch 8 or 9, and the specs from the watch 2 ultra haha. the looks either from the ultra or classic but not the normal ones xD
