Is This the Best Time to Upgrade Your TV?

Thinking about upgrading your TV? This isn’t a “don’t buy a TV” video — it’s about knowing when an upgrade will actually feel like an upgrade.

If your TV is more than five years old, you’re moving up from an entry-level model, you want a major jump in screen size, or you need newer gaming/display features, you may be exactly the person who should buy a new TV right now. But if you already own a good, recent TV, FOMO may be what’s in play, not new technology.

In this video, I break down who should upgrade, who should wait, what the newest 2026 TV technology actually gets you, and why the smartest TV purchase this holiday season may not necessarily be the newest model.

  1. Hey everyone! Share YOUR story below! I love what I’m reading from you. I’m trying to keep up with your comments, but I can’t! I love ’em all and I’ll visit more of you later on today. Keep ’em coming! (EDIT: I wish I could help all of you personally make that tough decision, but the video has to be the help in most cases. I’m so thankful and grateful to have you all here in the comments posing your awesome upgrade questions, but I think I’m at like 80 and there’s like 500 to go, LOL! Sorry I can’t be with all of you!

  2. I’m still watching an old Magnavox 43″ plama TV. It has a great picture and I’ll keep it until it dies. I bought a 55″ Samsung TV (can’t remember the model #), but returned it because the side view was terrible. (I watch from my kitchen and need a good off angle- side view- ). What TV has a good side (off angle) view?

  3. Hopefully you can see/reply to this. I’m working with a Sony A8H from 2020 but looking to upgrade to the 8 MKII in black Friday. Surely 2x brightness, color volume, VRR, ALLM, 4K/120, better OS and better upscaling/processing justifies an upgrade? Not to mention the A8 is turning pink on one side in some scenes and has dead pixels creeping in around edges. Much appreciated for all the insight you offer.

  4. Actually, I bought a 60′ TV in March 2026. By August it developed a black hairline running top to bottom. By September it was a thick black bar! Naturally it was out of the Warranty period! I JUST replaced it with a different brand from Walmart. Unfortunately it is a Garbage Roku theft TV. It REQUIRES a Credit card! Shades of Printer Ink! I’m Sick and Tired of this kind of Corporate Theft and Greed! It’s time to end this SH!T
Time for the Red Queen Treatment! Time to get out the clubs and treat these THIEVES LIKE Baby Harp Seals!

  5. I have a 18 year old Samsung LCD and a 15 year old Samsung LCD. They good for bedrooms but I think I’m upgrading to Oled for at least one.
