Are you building a new PC or upgrading a PC for Black Friday? What CPU and GPU combo are you looking at? What deals are you looking for or waiting for? How is your PC holding up? Tell your story in a new comment below!

  2. I just built a system last month I got a 7500F for $100 paired with a that I got for $530 9070GRE. I would like to upgrade my CPU I already upgraded my RAM from 16G to 32G. I am still sometimes seems slow and SWTOR will stutter. What CPU should I upgrade to?

  3. I envy you guys in USA or markets that are rich with choices with annual/seasonal competitive promotions. I’m looking at a desktop for retirement use (after 40+ years of using only laptops due to mobility). My current laptop is already 8 years old with all possible upgrades maxed out 4 years ago. This desktop will be my 2nd DIY built after my first in 1997.

I’m in a market where the main demand are for Brand pre-builts, Intel customs, and lastly AMD customs. The cheapest AMD CPU available is the 9700X at US$249. The price is at when the local retailer first stocked it directly from factories/wholesalers in China 2 years ago. That’s how slow the sales of AMD 9700X is! As for motherboard, the only AM5 ATX model available is the ASRock B860 Pro-A at US$169. I need 32GB RAM as I run VM. Unfortunately, all brand names RAM are exhausted, leaving only non-brand name, “Kingbank Soarblade 32GB Kit (16GB*2) DDR5 6000MT/s CL-30” at US$419. I opted for a DeepCool AK500S Digital cooler at US$39.

This gave me a “platform Cost” of US$837.

I went with a Samsung 990 EVO M.2 NVMe 1TB at US$185. There’s no AMD GPU available and the lowest specification 5000 series with 8GB available is the Colorful 5060Ti 8Gb at US$499. Only Gold+ rated 750W PSU is the darkFlash PMT at US$69. I abhor any RGB and got the cheapest case with fans available, the Acegeek Qube at US$39.

I don’t expect prices of any devices with NAND/DRAM to reduce or back to saner levels for the next 2 to 3 years. It is better to buy now if there’s an immediate use case. If not, just wait for 2 to 3 years (if your existing system is still working) and be subjected to market forces then.
