Unlike Alexa cast, Google cast or Linkplay, Apple Airplay actually streams via wifi from the iphone so if that iPhone leaves the wifi coverage area the song stops playing. With any of the others, the music streams directly from the App that’s being used so it’s not relying on the phone that’s initiated the music. Of course the other issue with Airplay is that you need an iPhone (or another Apple device) which significantly limits it’s viability for the vast majority of folks outside of the US.
